no time for much beyond a string of darkish, not-really-representative-of-life-at-all (because in reality it is bright and hot and washed-out every day) images of some recent random activities. life is busy now, even though i often feel "lazy". besides the continued early morning hikes and manual labor in the barn/gallery, there have also been excursions - to the First Friday Artwalk with the family, including Kathy in her tutu, Mexican food, to Austin for a couple of days with Margaret and a hike on the greenbelt, which is not very green in this drought-ridden land, but we *did* find a relic of a swimming hole. Betsy cut off all her hair and she is so pretty and i miss her. i also miss my solitude and my stuff and my poet, but mostly everything is A-OK. especially since the unemployment debit card finally got here.
paula, right now i am in fredericksburg, about 70 miles SW of austin. it is a nice little town, pretty conservative, but interesting stuff to look at (for me!). this has always been sort of a "destination", so it is more vibrant than some other small texas towns. i am (sort of) looking for work, in austin or san antonio, and a place to land. i'm not sure where i will end up yet, but somewhere around here, in the hill country/central texas area.
Hi neighbor.... sort of. I am actually in St. Louis for a few weeks, visiting my girl and a friend, going back and forth. I feel displaced, staying in others' beds, so I imagine you feel more so.
But it is hot hot hot down in Texas and so unbelievably dry, so I escaped for a while. I'll be back soon enough. Perhaps we will meet one day now that you're a Texan. ;-)
jennifer, i hope we will meet! being a Texan is taking some getting used to. so HOT! but i have been adapting admirably.
i almost went to Mason yesterday, to go wandering, as you once recommended. but it was soooooo hot, i decided Comfort would be far enough. i am excited to find new pictures!
