i guess i won't do a big New Year's thing here. i am contemplative, and it *was* an eventful year, but i don't feel like doing a re-hash or a list (although i did read 78 books! i just counted!). i also do not want to make resolutions and my intention is the same as every year. Try. Hope. Be.

i rather missed my tradition with my friend Traci - wherein i would make veggie Lucky 3-Bean Posole and mimosas and she would come over and we would make art all day. but i am far away now. i had a nice weekend with some of my family. Margaret and her b-friend, Adam, came to town. they stayed with my sister, as she has the space and i don't. we had a warm lunch outside, hiked a little, drank a little, shot a few fireworks, ate plenty of snacks and watched Apollo 18, which managed to keep my sister and i awake long enough to say "Happy New Year" at the appropriate time. today was posole (exactly the Lucky 3-Bean, but with chicken), guacamole, blackeye peas, cornbread, mimosas and silliness. we missed my mama and other sister, but it was all good and relaxed. Kathy wore her nighties all day. they were cute. (as is she)

now i am at home messing with my San Francisco pictures. this is one of my favorites. this fabulous old building, flanked by the pyramid disappearing into the fog. i guess Betsy and i were walking to the SFMOMA that morning. the old building is the Sentinel. i don't know what the pyramid is called and it doesn't matter. it is funny that it is present in so many of my pictures there and it was such a part of the landscape of my wonderful trip. and really funny that when Betsy and i were at the movies, seeing Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and at the end where SF was being attacked, i squeaked too loudly "NOT THE PYYYYYRRRRRRRAMIDDDDD!!" Betsy almost wet her pants laughing at me. i was almost embarrassed! heh. but really, what an icon.

anyway, a new year. a new number to remember. a new attempt.
so ... onward.

Happy New Year, dear! Lovely, lovely photo. The pyramid is the Transamerica Building, and the green building in front of it is owned by Francis Ford Coppola. It houses Zoetrope and a cafe.

Lovely photos. I was in SF in November and my shots of Chinatown look so very different. I should post them one of these days.
